Point your family to Jesus throughout the year!
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.“
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NIV)
Deuteronomy 6 gives parents the incredible responsibility of teaching their kids about God and his ways. Unfortunately, most parents feel unqualified to do this and don’t know where to start. But the good news is that we have a calendar you can use to teach your kids about God, his Word, and how it applies to them! The beauty of this calendar is that it allows you to spark spiritual conversations with your kids in the every day happenings of their lives.
The Dadventures Family Discipleship Calendar
The Dadventures Family Discipleship Calendar give you a theme word for the year—Strong. This word for the year gives your family an spiritual topic to focus on throughout the year. Along with the word of the year, there is also a verse for the year.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NIV)
You can memorize this verse as a family and say it together in the mornings before school, at mealtimes, and before bed. Use it as a prayer. Whenever my kids are facing a difficult challenge (test, tryout, difficult time with a friend), we have often said this verse as a prayer, reminding ourselves that God is with us and thanking him for it.
In addition to the word and verse for the year, there is also a word and verse for each month. This gives you an additional topic and scripture to focus on each month. The more you read and memorize God’s Word, the more natural it becomes to think and talk about it. It becomes easier as a parent to point your kids to Jesus and the Bible in the everyday things they face.
